Monica's story

Monica K. is a 47 year old woman. She is divorced and the mother of four children. Currently, her eldest daughter is a qualified nurse; one has completed senior high school and is waiting for his test results and the others are in school. Monica lives with her family in Abofour. She is a food vendor who sells rice and stew in the community school where she lives. She started her operation about twenty years ago. Her food production is on a low scale because of inadequate funds to support her business.

Monica is asking for a loan of $750 to buy more meat, vegetables, bags of rice and firewood to produce in larger quantities which will increase her efficiency . She believes this will help expand her business and raise more income to support and provide for her family and finance her children's education. Monica belongs to a village bank called ‘Nyame Nti, which means "Because of God".
