A loan of $400 helped a member purchase of condiments for re-sale.

Danaya Group's story

The members of the Danaya group are all married women with an average age of 29 and on average, 5 children. They live in traditional extended conjugal families with their brothers, sisters, children and husbands. They all reside in the village of Coni, Sous-prefecture of Fana, Koulikoro region, Republic of Mali.

These women are acquainted with each other because they are in-laws and for the most part, they buy and sell condiments.

With the intention of increasing the size of their businesses, they joined the micro-finance institute Soro Yiriwaso and are on their fourth loan, after having reimbursed the three preceding loans correctly.

With this loan they intend to buy 100 kg of cooking salt, 10 cans of 2 kg of tomato concentrate, and a large quantity of various other condiments. They do their buying in the market of Marka-Coungo and come to sell their merchandise in the local markets of Coni and its surroundings. They expect to make a profit of 25,000 F CFA each and intend to use this profit to nourish their children well.
