Danaya Group
In this Group: Fatoumata Modibo , Korotoumou , Korotoumou Alou, Mamou
The members of the Danaya group are all married women with an average age of 29 and on average, 5 children. They live in traditional extended conjugal families with their brothers, sisters, children and husbands. They all reside in the village of Coni, Sous-prefecture of Fana, Koulikoro region, Republic of Mali.

These women are acquainted with each other because they are in-laws and for the most part, they buy and sell condiments.

With the intention of increasing the size of their businesses, they joined the micro-finance institute Soro Yiriwaso and are on their fourth loan, after having reimbursed the three preceding loans correctly.

With this loan they intend to buy 100 kg of cooking salt, 10 cans of 2 kg of tomato concentrate, and a large quantity of various other condiments. They do their buying in the market of Marka-Coungo and come to sell their merchandise in the local markets of Coni and its surroundings. They expect to make a profit of 25,000 F CFA each and intend to use this profit to nourish their children well.

Les membres du groupe Danaya sont tous des femmes mariées avec une moyenne d’âge de 29 ans et de 5 enfants. Elles vivent dans de familles conjugales traditionnelles élargies avec les frères, sœurs, enfants et époux. Elles résident tous dans le village de Coni sous préfecture de Fana région de Koulikoro république du Mali.
Par des relations de mariage, ces femmes se sont connues et font majoritairement l’achat vente des condiments alimentaires.
Dans l’intention d’agrandir la taille de leur commerce elles ont intégré l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso et sont à leur quatrième prêt après avoir remboursé tous les trois prêts précédents.
Elles comptent acheter avec ce prêt, 100kg de sel de cuisine, 10 boites de 2 kg de concentrée de tomate et une grande quantité de condiments divers.
Elles s’approvisionnent dans le marché de Marka-Coungo et viennent revendre sur le marché local de Coni et ses environnants. Elles envisagent réaliser un bénéfice de 25 000 F CFA chacune et se proposent d’utiliser ce bénéfice pour assurer une bonne alimentation de leurs enfants.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
