A loan of $1,150 helped to buy goods for her store.

Emma Estela's story

Emma is 56 years old and married. She was born in a small rural town, about 40 km from Guatemala City. She began her current business selling groceries and basic consumer goods 4 years ago, when she moved from the countryside to one of Guatemala City's suburbs. She began selling fruit and vegetables and then later, bread, rice, beans and other daily necessities. When she started this business, it was the only one like it in her community and because of this, her business became a very important one in that neighbourhood. Over the years, Emma's store has slowly grown larger and today, she even sells some tools commonly needed in the community, like nails and shovels. Emma needs this loan so that she can further expand the range of products on offer in her store, just like her clients have asked her to do. She is confident that this loan will be a great help.
