Teodor's story

Teodor is 38 years old and has lived with the mother of his four children for 20 years. Currently, they live in a rented house. He is a man who has been working in agriculture since he was very young, and he's very passionate about it. He plants coffee, plantains, citrus fruits, achote and kion. Once they are harvested, he prepares the crops to be transported to the city markets. The rest go to his sister, who sometimes sells them for no charge--Teodor's wife has health problems, so this is her way of helping him. Teodor has several fields that require fumigation, and the rest lack cleaning. Each harvest can bring in between 200 and 300 soles. One of his hopes is to have a job equal to that of his sister. Another is that his wife will get better so they can sell their produce together without being a burden to their relatives and thus become prosperous traders. As an MFP client, he is very punctual in his repayments. In the last cycle, as the secretary, he efficiently kept records of all program meetings. This is his third loan, which he will use to fertilize his citrus and coffee fields so he can sell higher-quality produce at a better price.
