A loan of $375 helped buy fruit (pepinos, plantains, apples, etc., depending on the season).

Gloria Bilma's story

Bilma is a member of the Miraflores Communal Bank in the Sacaria Titicachi community, in the district of Pilcuyo, province of El Collao, district of Puyo. She is 43 years old, has 3 children, is married, and has a high school education. She has worked with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for the past year. She has a business buying, fattening, and selling cattle. She also works selling fruit in the Ilave and Pilcuyo markets. She used her first loan of 500 soles (about $175) to buy more merchandise (fruit).

With this loan of 1,200 soles ($375), which she will punctually repay over 3 months, she will buy more fruit (pepinos, plantains, apples, etc., depending on the season) to sell in the Ilave and Pilcuyo markets. The loan will help her pay for her children’s studies and her daily groceries.

She is grateful to Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for its support that it gives through business development.
