Rukia has been a food seller in the Mikunguni neighborhood of Zanzibar for 4 years. She currently earns an average monthly profit of $65. Every day she works at her business for 14 hours. She is requesting her second loan from BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more food materials for her business. She is hoping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business in order to save money and pay the school fees of her children.

Rukia is 31 years old, married, and has 4 children, ages 17, 16, 11, and 8. She will be sharing this loan with her fellow group members, Fatma S., Sabah B., Mahaji Z., and Fatma R.. Each woman also has her own small business in Zanzibar.
