A loan of $500 helped to purchase ingredients in bulk, including chickens to roast.

Maribel's story

Besides Maribel being a young and happy lady, she's a very busy woman as well. In the morning she has taken care of a child for the past 6 years. During the afternoons, she sells fried treats and the typical plates of her country from the door of her house.

She is often hired to cook at parties and festivals. At the festivals sometimes she also sells chicken. She also works by cleaning houses and businesses.

Thanks to her work, she has been able to send her two children to school and to provide for their needs. One of her children is 11 and the other is only 4 years old. Maribel's husband helps her with the costs of their home by working as a taxi driver.

In the future she would like to open a clothing store or a grocery store.
