A loan helped to pay for fertilizer, pesticides and for renovation of the tractor.

Ira's story

Ira is a farmer and has been raising seasonal crops and vegetables for the past thirteen years. Specifically, Ira cultivates corn and tomatoes. She lives in Verin Dvin village with her son, who helps his mother selling the harvest in the local market.

To be able to purchase fertilizer, pesticides and pay for renovation of the tractor, Ira is asking lenders for financial support. As this is Ira's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products before because they have no credit history. Through this joint initiative, almost 500 borrowers like Ira get a chance to have their first loans and develop their businesses. Ensuring responsible monthly payments of the loan, Ira and her son hope for lenders' support.
