A loan of $325 helped to buy a larger supply of maize.

Zuharla's story

Married with three children, among them beautiful twins who are currently schooling. Zuharla S. is a 39 year old trader. She believes in hard work and dedication as the primary antidote to minimizing poverty and for that matter she is very serious with her business. She trades in cereals like maize.

Zuharla started this business when she moved from the northern region. Zuharla has remained in this business for the past four years now. Through this Zuharla has been very resourceful for her family. She wants to use the loan to buy a larger supply of maize to serve her customers throughout the season. Especially in the face of increasing prices due to the current food crisis in the country. She believes with the loan she can buy more bags of maize grains from the farmers, avoiding middlemen who retail to her at a higher price.

Zuharla belongs to a village bank called ‘Agnes’. She also hope to receive GH¢400 to make business progress by restocking her inventory. This would enable her to save more to support her husband in taking care of their home.
