A loan helped to make some basic repairs to this home; they are extremely poor and the house in the background is proof of their living situation.

Andoneta's story

This is Andoneta and her husband Nure. They are both in their 50s and are both receiving a disability pension. They have been photographed in front of their--let’s call it ‘home’--to which they want to make some repairs. They are villagers from the southeastern Albania and note that the rural areas in this region are much poorer compared to other regions.

For the past 20 years, they have been pursuing agriculture planting, harvesting and selling in small quantities to acquaintances, yet mostly they use the products for themselves. Their village has a very cold climate and is located along the national road Tirana-Korca. This makes it easier for villagers to sell their products to passersby. Andoneta and Nure are almost begging for your compassion and understanding.
