Alicia's story

Alicia is a member of The White River's Breezes Community Bank. She lives on 19th of September Avenue in Pilcuyo, Peru. She is a 24-year-old mother with one son and lives with her partner. She has a high school degree and has worked with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for the past three years. She makes a living buying and selling cereals (broad beans, qunioa, potato flour) wholesale at the flea markets in Ilave and Puno. Her first loan was for 300 soles, which she used to purchase more supplies and improve her business in Ilave and Puno. The current loan of 3,000 soles she is requesting will be used to acquire another mill for her cereal business, and her earnings she will used to feed and educate her young son. She thanks Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for its confidence and support, and she promises to repay her loan punctually in five months.
