A loan of $450 helped to purchase more drinks to sell.

George's story

George K., twenty-five, is single and independant. George lives alone in a rented apartment in Bawjiase community near Accra. Most of the inhabitants of Bawjiase are either in farming or buy and sell in farm products. Very few people run different types of businesses. George is a merchant and sells in soft drinks. He sells varieties of drinks and mineral water in both bottles and cans, such as Coca Cola, Fanta, pineapple juice, Sprite, etc.

George orders the drinks directly from the manufacturers in Accra where the cost is economical. He believes he can scale up his business with additional working capital so he wants a loan to order more drinks and mineral water so that he can distribute to a larger number of customers. He is a member of "Maranatha Trust Bank" group. The members in the group guarantee for one another as collateral to access the loan and provide assistance to one another in handling repayment.
