Scholastica's Group's story

Scholastica is 50 years old and has nine children. She has been a farmer for more than 20 years and is always said to be a very friendly person. Even though Scholastica is the only one featured in the above picture, she is actually representing her group formed by 11 farmers in Kakamega North District, Kenya.

Scholastica started working alongside One Acre Fund a few years ago, in 2011, and decided to do so because she wanted to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Since then, she has seen her life improve; especially in the sense that she has been able to consistently feed her family ever since.

Scholastica plans to receive a solar light, which she is so excited about since she will now have a generally improved quality of life. This year she decided to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community.

Scholastica’s Group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 4.25 acres of land. In addition, the group will be able to receive 11 solar lights in total between them.

In this group: Scholastica, Roselidah, Lucy, Josephine, Peris Mutewa, Beatrice, Tabitha, Esther, Mourice, Diminah, Sarah A.
