Veronica's story

Nkurankan, Ghana is a large marking centre for the people of the Yilo Krobo District of Ghana. Sister Veronica is a resident of this town and manufactures beads for the local market. She is also a client of Kraban Support Foundation for the past 3 years. She has benefitted from Kraban loans for the years she's been a client and is now seeking a kiva loan of $900.00 to help her expand her business.

The photo was taken at Veronica's beads-making centre located on the compound of her residence. The picture shows Veronica about to push the moulded beads into the the hot oven, made of clay and earth. The earth-moulded oven structure retains the heat of the fuel wood, which is used to process the raw materials into beads.
