Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Teresa De Jesús's story

Teresa de Jesús Martinez belongs to the Community Bank “La Amistad” (Friendship), located at Jr. Oroya Mz G, Lot 2 in the Nuevo Bolognesi neighborhood, kilometer 7 of the District of Calleria.

Teresa is 46 years old and has three grown children. Her husband is a photographer.

The first loan she received was for S/.300.00 Nuevos Soles and she bought a camera and film and began to take photographs. She sought out clients and during the holidays she was able to serve many customers.

This loan, for S/.1,300.00 Nuevos Soles is to buy fruit, bottles and lids, and wood to make and bottle juice. With the help of her husband and children she will distribute the juice to her customers.

She is grateful for all of the support Manuela Ramos has given to her and her family.
