A loan of $400 helped to build a chicken coop.

Melina's story

Melina is 50-years-old and lives with her husband and her daughter, who is a single mother. They both give her a lot of support. For the past 6 years she has earned her living raising chickens in her home. What she enjoys about her work is being able to raise her chickens to the size and weight perferred by her clients. Every 35 days Melina sells her birds to local buyers. Orders are steady and secure, so her business is profitable. What's difficult about her work is that she has insufficient space in her house to raise all of her chickens. This will be Melina's third loan with MFP. She plans to use the money to build a chicken coop to provide the right environment for her animals. She will also get some baby chicks and the nutritionally-balanced feed they need.
