Yolanda's story

Yolanda is 43 years old. She married 27 years ago and she has 3 children from this relationship, one of whom died and not long ago her second daughter married. Since then she lives with her husband and one of her daughters at their own house. This partner works in agriculture, she sows potatoes, and after sowing her husband stays to look after the farm while she sells food at the main square of her town Huasahuasi. The dish she sells is called “green soup” prepared with diced potatoes and a herb called "muña" which she boils together with the potatoes and serves with a parboiled egg. Yolanda stays at the square from 9 to 10 in the morning, later she buys what she needs for the following day.
Once she has had lunch and sent lunch to her husband, she spins wool of ram so she can weave blankets, which she sells each for 40 soles ($12).
She has done this activity since she was 18 years old because her father was a craftsman and he produced blankets and ram woolen blankets, while her mother and she were spinning. This is the activity that really keeps her busy. This is her 7th loan with MFP (Kiva's partner) and with the requested money she will buy fertilizers for her potato small farm.
