Mrs. Makara Shum Village Bank Group's story

Eight people living in Ta Reab DoU. Sar village in Kandal province comprise this village bank loan group. Mrs. Makara S., the 31- year-old village bank president, is a farmer who cultivates vegetables. She now faces a problem because she does not have enough money to rent a pond in which to grow lotus. Thus, she decided to ask for a loan for this purpose and for buying lotus seed. Her husband, Mr. U. Vuth, is a fisherman. Mrs. Makara S. is 31 years old and the mother of three children, two of whom attend the local school while the other is too young to work or study. The other members of the group will use their portions of the loan for other purposes.
