A loan of $4,475 helped a member to buy the raw materials to make their handcrafted items.

Wipala Group's story

Crafts and home remedies are the main activities of the members of the Wipala group. Some members weave aguayos [ traditional Andean textiles to carry small children], make backpacks of aguayo and leather, guitar cases, wallets, pencil cases. Those "chifleras" of the group make amulets, products to bring good luck or attract the person or thing the customer desires. Once their products are made they sell them in the areas of Cochabamba and Santa Cruz on market days, which are Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Wipala group has been together for four years in the downtown area of Los Andes. They are a very united group and as they have been together for a long time, they have become friends with each other. Now they need to buy more of the raw materials for their businesses so that they can make more sales and generate more revenue.

In this group: Basilia, Delfina, Felicita, Filomena, Rosario, Salome, Lucina, Lucila, Vicky, Claudia, Maria, Willson, Darea, Rosmery
