A loan of $575 helped to buy materials for her business.

Teodora's story

Teodora is 47 years old. She has been married for 27 years, and is the mother of 8 children. Currently she lives with the three youngest of her children, and with two of her nieces, in her own home. For many years she has worked as a housewife in the house of the mayor’s wife. She works from Monday to Friday from 7am until 5pm. Teodora tries to do her work efficiently and quickly, so she will have free time to prepare the food in her own home, for her family. On Saturdays and Sundays she works in the carpentry shop alongside her husband, who is a well-known carpenter, and has prospered through certain opportunities when he received large contracts. Then he lost a worker and correspondingly stopped. He was obligated to have Teodora work and to look for help from a friend of hers, whose job it is to do the sanding and polishing until each piece they make shines.

Teodora and her husband in all their time of living together have tried to work in harmony making furniture, with the end of being able to make it into a well known furniture shop in the area, and so have a profitable activity so that when their children grow up they will work there too. Carpentry at the moment is very profitable and they have received contracts from several organisations. Currently Teodora is the president of a community bank, where she has received 5 loans from MFP, and in all this time she has not had problems making the corresponding payments. The money that she is asking for is to invest in the materials for her carpentry shop, such as lacquer, thinner, sandpaper, and wood, with the goal of growing her capital and not to not be in need of materials when she has to finish the furniture.
