A loan helped to pay for her set up costs such as float, a trading kiosk, an internet enabled phone, a cashbox and chair where she can sit as she serves customers.

Alinafe's story

Alinafe is 21 years old. She is passionate about rural and community development and she loves to volunteer at the local youth center. She is the second born in a family of four. Alinafe has completed training with Zoona to start running her own Zoona mobile money transfer business in her hometown of Blantyre in Malawi. Her business will provide the services of sending and receiving money to a lot of people in her community.

Alinafe is requesting a loan to help her start her business. This loan will help Alinafe pay for her set up costs. She will be able to purchase a trading kiosk, a mobile phone to be used to serve her customers, a chair where she can sit as she serves her customers, and a cash box where she can keep her cash for safety. This loan will also provide Alinafe with the float needed for her to serve her customers.

Zoona has done market research in the area where Alinafe is going to set up and has determined that the location for this kiosk is ideal. Alinafe will be one of the main operators of Zoona mobile money transfers in Blantyre and a large number of families will be using her service to send and receive their monies.

Alinafe’s dream is to help fellow youths in the country by creating employment. She explains that she is passionate about helping people, and employment in Malawi is very scarce and that by starting her own business, she will hopefully be able to empower other young people. Alinafe finished high school in 2011 and went to college to study rural and community development, but did not complete her course because she did not have the financial support. With her business, she hopes to one day go back to college and complete her education. Alinafe thanks the Kiva lenders
