A loan helped to build a latrine.

Somaly's story

Somaly, 42, lives in a community in Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia. She is a lovely mother of 3 children. To earn a living and support her family, she manages and operates a farming business on a small rice farm located near her house. So far she has been in this business for 15 years. On average, she is able to earn of 2.50 USD per day.

Because her house currently does not have a latrine, Somaly wishes to improve the general living conditions of her entire family by building one. Therefore, she is requesting a loan from Kiva and Hattha Kaksekar Limited to build the latrine. By doing this, she can help her family members gain access to sanitation, promote their health, and help lessen environmental deterioration.

Somaly is thankful for the loan granted through HKL, which has a much lower interest rate than other general loan products.
