A loan of $400 helped to buy bags of dried maize grains, rice, vegetables, assorted meat, etc.

Akua's story

Akua N. is 35 years old, a wife and a mother with five children, who are in school. She has been a food vendor for a year now. She prepares and sells kenkey (a local dish prepared from milled maize and eaten with all kinds of sauces and soups). It is a delicacy many Ghanaians enjoy daily either as breakfast, lunch, or dinner. She sells at the main business center of Agogo. Her business is doing well, and she wants to expand her operation to serve more customers.

With the loan, she wants to purchase more maize grains, vegetables, rice and assorted meat for her operation. She hopes this loan will help her increase her earnings and improve her family's well-being. She would be very grateful for this assistance. Her photo was taking when we visited her. With the loan she wants to add the sale of soft drinks to her operation so that her profit margin can be increased.
