A loan of $600 helped to buy sand, cement, iron and gravel to renovate her house before winter arrives.

Maria Dolores's story

Maria, 57, has a fifth grade education. She is single and has three children. Her partner left when the children were still young, but now only a daughter and granddaughter live at home.

Maria has always grown corn and has worked in agriculture for 30 years. Everything she knows she learned from her father who taught her to grow corn, millet and beans. Maria also raises chickens and pigs. She walks ten kilometers to her cropland, but not as often as before because of her age.

Maria plans to use the loan to buy sand, cement, iron and gravel to fix up the house before winter.

Her dream is to have a house in good condition and for her granddaughter to continue her education.
