A loan helped to buy corn in order to make tortillas and more fruit to later sell chopped up.

Carmen's story

Carmen is 38 years old. She only went to school up until 5th grade. Now she is married and has two children that go to school. Her life partner makes a living growing basic grains.

Carmen has been selling tortillas and chopped fruit everyday for 12 years. She gets up at 4 in the morning to cook and then grind the corn so that she can start making the tortillas at 7. From when she was small, her parents taught her to work and she describes how she likes business. Her workplace is 500 metres away from her home.

She really needs this loan to buy corn in order to make tortillas and more fruit to later sell chopped up.

She wants to carry on working so that her children are not deprived of anything, and so that they are well educated and learn to work. She also wants to make improvements to her home.
