A loan of $600 helped to buy rice crops from the growers to re-sell for a profit.

Chheng's story

Chheng V. was born and raised in a farming family. She started growing rice and some other crops in 1980. The output is just sufficient for her household.

Her husband works making string cow and selling them at the market. With his business activity, he can generally make about US$ 4/day in income to support his household. Because of their lack of capital, Chhen V. didn’t have any idea how to make other profit beside working at her rice field.

After learning about CREDIT MFI from one of her neighbors, V. thought of an opportunity to generate additional profit for her household. She would like to take a loan in the amount of US$ 600 to buy rice crops from the growers and re-sell the rice when the price is going up. She believes this will help her increase her income as well as improving her living conditions.
