A loan of $825 helped to stock up on inventory items in her food store.

Donika's story

Donika is 50 and has three children; 24, 22 and 20, with each one of them working; the oldest in a gas station, the middle in a cattle leather manufacture, and the youngest in a restaurant.

She has been running a store in their village for fifteen years; she sells food and some other items such as toiletries. In addition to running the store, she also owns about eight dynyms (a tenth of a hectare) of agricultural land where she plants mainly corn; this year according to her, she only sold 20 quintal (50 kg) comparing to previous years that she had sold more.

“The weather was terrible this year with lots of rains and snow; it damaged our products,” said Donika. She also has 15 beehives, yet did not sell any honey due to the fact that she did not do well in this activity either due to weather climate.
