Mr. Pengphalla Sok Village Bank Group's story

Nineteen people in Kouk Trab village in Kandal province make up a village bank and Mr. Pengphalla S. is the village bank president. He and his wife own a small restaurant where they sell Chinese noodles with soup, coffee, and rice. Since their business is going well, they want to expand it. Thus, Mr. Pengphalla S. decided to ask for a loan to buy Chinese noodles and ingredients to make delicious food for his customers. He hopes to increase their income and improve their living conditions with this loan. He is 36 years old and the father of a child who is attending the local school.

Two members in this group have end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows tH. to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.
