Maria Esther's story

Maria Esther O. G. is 34-years old and lives in the Víctor Larco Herrera district of Buenos Aires, in the Trujillo province of La Libertad, Perú. She went to school until her third year of secondary school. She has 3 children, 2 of which depend on her financially.

Maria sells dairy products, cakes, and sausages. She started selling food and with the profits began a business selling cheese and roscas (ring-shaped bread rolls) door-to-door, later expanding her sales to include sausages. She now has regular customers and order requests, and runs her business from home.

With her first loan of 300 PEN which she received from Las Palmeras community bank, Maria invested in basic foodstuffs. This loan of 1,200 PEN, which will be repaid in 6 months, will be used to buy cakes, dairy products, and sausages. Maria dreams of building a house and traveling to Chile.
