A loan of $1,000 helped to use for her investment in a neighbor's business.

Sum's story

Sum L., 29, is single and lives with her mother and her three younger sisters and brothers in Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province, Cambodia.

She works with her mother on her paddy growing seasonal rice and vegetables, but the money they make is barely enough to support their household. Meanwhile, her little brother and sister are employed making incense with one of her neighbors, earning US$ 4/day each. Incense-making is a profitable business in her town and it’s simply to work on to generate profit.

Having a very close relationship with her neighbor, Sum L. would like to invest with him in the business by purchasing more items to increase their production. Meeting the financial constraints, Sum L. would like to request a loan from KIVA to put toward her investment.
