A loan of $3,150 helped a member to buy stock for his electrical business.

Fanaka Group's story

Augustino K., 47, is a widower with one 16-year-old child. He also takes care of his mother. He is an electrician and also sells electrical materials. He started this business two years ago and works daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. He is able to earn a monthly profit of around $62.

This will be Augustino’s fifth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to increase the stock of his electrical equipment and has repaid the loans successfully. He now hopes for a fifth loan to buy more stock to sell.
Augustino will share this loan with his loan group, Fanaka, which totals 15 members. The members of the group hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. In the picture, Augustino is standing in the back, first on the left.
