Srey's story

Mrs. Srey D., 42, and her husband, Mr. Vy Son, 38 who live in a small village across the Mekong River about 20 kilometers from Phnom Penh, married in 2000 and have two daughters. One of them attends school and another one is still young. Besides her children, she also has one sister living with her.

Srey has been raising pigs for two years. Her husband has been producing rice wine for one year and milling rice for other villagers to get extra income. The couple is also growing rice. Srey is requesting a loan of US$ 400 to purchase feed for pigs and to purchase fertilizer, diesel, and pay plowing fees for growing rice.
