Shahida Parveen Group's story

Shahida parveen baji is 26 years old, married and resides in a the city of Vehari, Pakistan. She owns a two room brick house and has lived there with her family for the past 20 years. She has no formal education but never hesitates to join a conversation as she has good talking manners. Her husband, M. H. has been in the dried fruit selling business for 10 years. He buys dried fruits from places called “Murree and Chitral”. These places are famous for their dried fruits. Shahida baji has one son who is just 4 days old. She stays at home, does household work and in addition, sews clothes as a business. She sews clothes at home, taking orders from her neighbors. She saves her income in a village bank and plans to renovate her house when she finally saves enough.. She is applying for a loan to buy dried fruit to expand her husband’s dried fruit selling business.

Shahida baji is a leader of a women's loan group. Bashiran baji wants a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop. Qadeer Ilahi baji wants a loan to buy medicines for her drug store. Begum safia T. baji wants a loan to buy stationary (pencils, razors and notebooks) to resell. Bhoori baji wants a loan to buy beams for her shuttering business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
