A loan of $650 helped rubi would like to purchase wines from the Chinca and Ica regions to resell for holiday gifts.

Rubi's story

Rubi Gonzalez B. N. lives in Pucallpa, Peru – the bustling capital of the Ucayali department in eastern Peru. The region is characterized by the meandering Ucayali River, a tributary of the Amazon. The weather is scorchingly hot and humid almost everyday and during the wet season, the city receives daily thunderstorms and rain showers.

Rubi lives in the city on Atahualpa Street with her husband – an electrician – and her two sons. Rubi has been taking out loans through the Talented Women communal bank for five years to support her shoe and clothing sales business.

Rubi is currently requesting a Kiva loan of 2,000 Nuevo Soles to help her finance the purchase of wines from the Southwestern coastal region of Peru. Rubi would like to sell these famous wines from the cities of Chinca and Ica as Christmas and holiday gifts. Rubi will also use her loan to stock up on shoes and clothing for her regular business activities.
