A loan helped a member to buy assorted items for her grocery store.

Mtendere Group's story

Mervis is aged 52 and has 9 children. She used to be a farmer and obtaining loans helped her to start up a new business. She now owns a grocery store in her community that she depends on for her daily needs and the provision of her children’s welfare. She started this business in order to be economically empowered and to improve her family's living standards.

She will use the loan to expand her business by purchasing more commodities for her shop; this will help her to increase her profits. She plans on hiring someone to help her in running her business and hopes to build a better house. The loans have helped her to become independent and she is now able to pay school fees for some of her children.
