A loan of $975 helped buying turkeys and turkey feed and making repairs to the rooms she rents out in her house.

Marinita's story

Marinita R. V. is sixty-six years old and has one daughter whom she supports. She lives in the Callería district of the city of Pucallpa, Peru. Marinita used to have a charcoal-selling business, but is now selling chickens for a living.

She is requesting a loan of 3,000 Nuevo Soles to be repaid in six months to fund the purchase of turkeys and turkey feed. Marinita plans to raise the birds and re-sell them to market vendors and direct users. Marinita also rents out a house for extra income and she sometimes uses the capital from her Kiva loans to make repairs to the space. She is pictured in the photograph above with two birds she is currently raising for sale.
