A loan of $975 helped purchase more beauty products such as perfumes.

Juana Antonia's story

Juana Antonia R. D. C. is a member of the Mujeres Emprededoras or Women Entrepreneurs communal bank in Pucallpa, Peru. Pucallpa is a major city and transportation hub of the eastern jungle region in Peru’s Amazon River basin.

Juana is sixty-six years old and she supports herself, her five children, and her retired husband. Juana sells beauty products by catalog for a living. When she first started with the Manuela Ramos micro-finance organization eight years ago, Juana sold clothing. Now Juana is requesting a loan of 3,000 Nuevo Soles to purchase cosmetics and beauty products for her stock.

Beauty products sales by catalog is a popular profession in Peru. Women sell to their neighbors, family, friends and acquaintances on credit. Women working with Kiva loans are able to purchase more stock in bulk to save themselves money and to keep their display cases in stock.

Juana plans to repay her loan in six months and will use the funds to purchase more of the perfumes pictured in the photograph. She thanks you for your support.
