A loan of $400 helped grow livestock business.

Zelmira's story

Zelmira, 28, is a single mother. She lives with her parents and her two young children. Two years ago, she started a business raising sheep, a business that has helped her increase her earnings because the market pays a premium for lamb. She also has a few cows that produce milk, another product that sells well in the markets in and around the city, but a business that requires her to start very early in the morning because she has to collect the milk and sell it to her customers while it's fresh for their morning breakfasts. This is Zelmira's 13th MFP loan and she's repaid all of her past loans. She's a star among the members of her community bank. The loan will be used to buy sheep which cost around 300 soles per head.
