Mrs. Mai Sman Village Bank Group's story

The village bank loan group consists of thirty-two people who live in the village of Phum Saeprammuoy, in Kampong Cham province. Each of the members will use the loan for a different purpose. Mrs. Mai S. is the village bank loan group president who has been selected by the members. She is a farmer who owns a small plot of land and cultivates rice to earn for living. Her husband, Mr. S. Some, is a laborer who earns a small income. Together, they support the family. Mrs. Mai S. is 57 years old and the mother of two children who are all employed. Although Mrs. Mai S.’s family members work hard, they still do not earn enough income to support the family. In order to improve their living conditions, Mrs. Mai S. decided to ask for a loan to buy a cow and start a breeding business. She hopes to increase her income after she sells the calves.
