A loan helped a member to purchase 35 sacks of unshelled peanuts for processing.

Penda's Group's story

Created on May 7, 2009, this group is composed of women who are very active in farming in their village. They have an unassailable solidarity and are dedicated to small-scale commerce to reduce the obstacles to obtaining typical consumer goods. They also work in processing.

Ms. Penda (sitting at the right with a hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is 41 years old and a married mother of two girls and four boys. This woman is very active and strict in managing her revenue-generating businesses. She counts several years of experience in selling food items and in processing peanut butter.

With her new loan, she is going to purchase 35 sacks of unshelled peanuts for processing.

The profits will enable her to bolster her savings, as well as to do her part in supporting her husband to care for the children.

In this group: Penda, Haby
