Safiétou's story

Safiétou Mané, age 48, is married and the mother of two children who are in her care. She has been a member of the village loan group of Kandé Alassane for eight years and wants to buy a refrigerator, sacks of "monkey bread" (the fruit of the baobab tree), and some sugar to make and sell ice, juices, and ice cream. Her wish is to bolster her business to improve her family's living conditions. The loan she is requesting will be repaid all at once at the end of six months.
