A loan of $600 helped purchase tunas (local fruit) and other fruit.

Elena Pascuala's story

Elena H. Chávez is a member of the Community Bank “Manuela Ramos de Tinco” in the province of Carhuaz. Elena is 37 years old and has 4 children with her partner.

She hasn’t really had hard problems in the past, but she would like to help her partner, who is a farmer, with his work, as it requires hard work and dedication.

Elena sells herbal essence and medicinal herbs that she buys in lots of land to later on grow them and sell them in packages at the fair of the city of Huaraz.

Elena tells us that when she started four years ago she used to sell only what she produced at home, but as the business expanded, she decided to buy herbs in lots of land to grow them, although during high seasons of production she needs to dispose some herbs as they are non-durable and she doesn’t know how to sell her over stock. For that reason, she also decided to diversify her business and start selling fruit that she buys in the district of Tinco to later on sell them together with her herb in the city of Huaraz.

With this $600 loan she requested from the Manuela Ramos moment via the Community Bank, which will be paid back in 8 months, she will purchase tunas (local fruit) and other fruit to sell at the fair of the city of Huaraz on Monday and Thursday.

Elena believes it is important to learn to improve you business in every possible aspect.
