A loan helped to buy a pair of oxen.

Jose Orlando's story

José, 26, lives with his common-law wife and two children, ages 12 and 9, who attend school. José has as third grade education and his wife is a homemaker.

Ever since he was 15 years old, José has been a farmer. His father was the one who taught him how to work well in the field so that he could support himself and a family. He also works on another farm where he was hired as a caretaker. To get there he must walk a kilometer from home and his work schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The loan he is requesting is to buy a pair of oxen to help with the crop harvest. He always rents them for this work. José hopes to continue working hard for his family and also hopes he maintains the trust of those who hire him. His income will go toward his children's education.
