Santiago's story

Santiago is 48 years old, is married to Mariana de S. and together they have four children of which two are adults. They work in the center of Ciudad del Este as salaried workers and the other two younger children are still in school. One of them is a 15 year old male helps his father with the business after school in the afternoon by accompanying him on his daily sales, selling cigarettes of all brands, for example: Kentuki, Kent, Philips Morris, Marlboro among others.

Santiago has dedicated himself to this work for more than eight years. He says that in the morning he fills requests for all the local stores, supermarket and kiosks. In the afternoon he delivers the merchandise in his van which he was able to purchase from money saved from this job.

Santiago uses his profits to support the household and, together with his wife, also help their children with family costs.

Santiago says that sales are going very well. Because of this, he would like to acquire a larger amount of merchandise, especially Kent and Kentucky brands that are his star products. In this manner he will be able to meet the strong demand that his products have in the area and make his sales.
