Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $975 helped to expand and improve her business by purchasing 700 cuttings of vines.

Catana's story

Catana P. is 54 years old, and she lives in Basarabeasca district, Carabetovca village, in the Republic of Moldova. Her family has 2.64 hectares of agricultural land, plus an additional 0.5 hectares of agricultural land which belongs to her parents. She has been working this land since 2001, though she does not have technical agricultural skills; instead, much of the technical work is carried out by skilled workers from the village, even though she participates in much of the manual labor.

Next year she wants to plant many vine varieties. As a result, she is seeking a loan through MicroInvest in order to purchase vine grafts and cuttings.
