Elinkine, Senegal / Fishing

A loan of $975 helped a member commerce in fresh fish.

Ndiaye Kunda Group's story

We are inhabitants of the eco-village Elinkine, which is a fishing port where tonnes of fresh fish are unloaded, processed, and exported to other cities in the nation. We want to create a business for marketing fresh fish, such that we can buy from fishermen and then go resell the fish in Ziguinchor and in surrounding cities. This is a very lucrative business that yet requires financial means to address the demands of people distant from coastal access. Addressing this situation, which will enable us to fight poverty and idleness among our children, is the reason why we have come to request financing from Kiva. Also, this is a business that provides us with the employment for coping with the needs of our families, who living in extreme poverty.
