A loan of $500 helped to purchase products to sell.

Fátima Bernardo Vetece's story

Fátima Bernardo Vetece C. is 32 years old and was born in Magude, a northern district in the province of Maputo. She is divorced and has 4 children. She supports only her sister who lives with her because the children live with their father in the province of Nampula.

Fátima studied through eighth grade and then stopped because she became pregnant, which obliged her to get married. Her marriage lasted 16 years. They got divorced because her husband was transferred from Maputo to Nampula, where he met another woman, and he returned to finalize the divorce. During this process the children went to live with their father because he had the conditions to support them.

Currently Fátima makes her living from her business selling a variety of products, including beer, soda, and wine. She works 10 hours a day, makes 4,000 Meticais (MZN) monthly, and is able to save some.

This is her second loan from Hluvuku (Kiva's Field Partner). She intends to repay it early and request another loan to grow her establishment into a grocer's shop for selling drinks.
