Patricia's story

Patricia A. is a 30-year-old trader. She is married with three children. She has been selling used clothes in the local market of Teshie in Accra for seven years. With income from her business, Patricia is supporting two of her kids in junior high school while the last-born is still breastfeeding.

Her major business challenge over the years has to do with funds to scale up the business, especially in this crucial election period in Ghana. She has lots of marketing experience with a strong customer base as compared to her competitors and very confident that the loan would enable her to achieve remarkable business progress. She wants to use the loan to buy more bales of used clothes from the importers to serve her customers. She hopes to save enough to support her kids to complete school. She is a member of the group called Israel Trust Group. Members in this group guarantee and provide support to one another to repay the loan. She does not sell on group meeting days and her picture was taken during her group meeting.
