Som S., 28, is married and lives with her husband and her three young children in the Kampong Cham province of Cambodia. She is a farmer who grows and raises pigs, making around US$4 each day, while her husband makes $5 a day as a construction worker who builds houses. The agriculture industry has really suffered in Cambodia over the past year, as the climate has had unfavorable conditions and inflation has been high. Som S. is asking for a loan of US$800 to purchase a mill to provide grinding services for an additional profit. With this purchase, the family believes that they can increase their income and raise the standard of living for the whole family.
