Mr. Penh H., 66, resides in the Kompong Cham Province. He is a vegetable farmer who grows morning glories and specializes in cabbage crops. Penh is able to sell his cabbages 3 months after planting and he has been selling this crop for about seven years. He is married to Mrs. Sim Mao, 60, works with her husband in the fields and together they are the parents of three children. Penh is applying for a loan to buy a pumping machine, gasoline, and insecticides to use on his farm. (Penh's wife is shown in the picture because Penh was not available)
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
